Paul McCartney

Album Notes

Shrouded in ambiguity, Thrillington was recorded in 1971 at Abbey Road Studios, under the pseudonym of Percy "Thrills" Thrillington. Paul produced the album while Richard Hewson arranged and conducted. An instrumental cover version of Paul and Linda's 1971 album, Ram – Thrillington was shelved until 1977 following the formation of Wings. A fictitious press release explains, "Thrillington, is a puzzle and so far no one has all the pieces. He [Percy "Thrills" Thrillington] takes all of the songs on Paul and Linda McCartney's ‘Ram' album and, with the help of some of London's best orchestra and "big band" musicians, forges the pop music themes into new, entirely-instrumental versions." Paul finally put an end to the rumours surrounding the real identity of Percy Thrillington in 1989, during his world tour when he admitted to journalist Peter Palmiere at a Los Angeles press conference, "...it was me and Linda, and we kept it a secret for a long time but now the world knows! You blew it!"
