Patients from Great Ormond Street Hospital celebrated the festive period yesterday, with a special group of celebrity friends at their magical Christmas Party.
Over 1500 children and their families over three parties, gathered at Coram’s Field in central London for the annual Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Christmas Party. All the children who attended have been treated by the hospital this year. They were whisked away to the wintery world of Santa’s Magical Workshop and plenty of assorted helpers were on hand to make sure they had an extra special festive day to remember - complete with elves, snow, giant toys and reindeer!
Celebrities who attended to show their support and add some Christmas sparkle included:
Sir Paul McCartney
Vernon Kay
Tess Daly
Neil Fox
Connie Fisher and the cast of The Sound of Music
The cast of Phantom of the Opera
The parties included a whole host of exciting festive entertainment including music, carols and games - and the chance to sing along with stars of the West End, dance with fairies and make Christmas crafts.
The special guests visited Santa’s Post room, the Fireside area, Toy making and Toy testing areas, Santa’s music area, as well as Mrs Christmas’ Pampering area and kitchen – which was filled with delicious Christmas party food galore.
Plus - of course - every child had the chance to meet Santa to give him their Christmas wish list and take home some special early Christmas treats and gifts.
Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity patrons Tess Daly and Vernon Kay said; “I’m delighted to be able to share this exciting day with the children as they deserve a wonderful Christmas treat after coping so bravely with the tough year that many of them have had. Great Ormond Street Hospital does such fantastic work in helping the children get better and get home to their families as quickly as possible.â€
