Wings’ first major tour - ‘Wings Over Europe’ - kicked off forty years ago today beginning at the Centre Culturelle in Châteauvallon, France.
The tour took place over the months of July and August and included venues across France, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, The Netherlands and Belgium.
The band – comprised of Paul, Linda, guitarists Denny Laine and Henry McCullough, and drummer Denny Seiwell – were touring in support of the band’s debut album ‘Wild Life’ and singles ‘Give Ireland Back To The Irish’ and ‘Mary Had A Little Lamb’.
The setlists consisted of songs taken from their debut album, plus ‘McCartney’ and ‘RAM’, new songs ‘Soily’ and ‘Hi Hi Hi’, and covers including ‘Long Tall Sally’ and ‘Blue Moon Of Kentucky’.
