We always knew 2025 would mark the 50th anniversary of Venus and Mars, and we were over the moon to revisit some of our favourite tracks from that era and immerse ourselves in the vibrant sounds of New Orleans that inspired the album. But, as if by cosmic coincidence, we also discovered that while we were gearing up to announce the 50th anniversary half-speed master vinyl, a spectacular planetary parade was set to unfold right above us.
So, stargazing fans, grab your telescopes or simply hope for a starry night, because the night sky has a dazzling show in store. Six planets in our solar system are currently aligned in a 'planetary parade', including Venus and Mars. To kick off 2025 with our first 'Sticking Out of My Back Pocket' playlist of the year, we've been looking to the heavens for inspiration.
Whether you're anticipating big changes with your Saturn’s return, making wishes on shooting stars, or simply fascinated by the cosmos, you're in good company with us at PaulMcCartney.com, including Paul himself, who often looks to the skies for songwriting inspiration.
With this celestial event in mind, we've delved into Paul's astronomical catalogue and curated an interstellar selection of songs for January’s 'Sticking Out of My Back Pocket' playlist. So, grab your telescope to spot 'The Kiss of Venus' on a ‘Beautiful Night’ and let the cosmos guide your musical journey. Listen to the playlist here!
